Changes coming to Strava

I pay for strava, mainly for the breadcrumb feature that allows my wife and the kids to see where I am anytime. I know I could run 2 separate apps to do the same thing but $79/yr isn't worth the hassle. Everything down loads from my Hammerhead at the end at the ride and no fiddling about

This guy's product reviews are useful, but my goodness, come on now.

Intervals.icu have already made changes so that any Strava imported rides can't be viewed by a coach (or third party).

Which means anyone with a Wahoo isn't able to use Intervals.icu with a coach.

I get what you're saying, but this feels real.

I missed the email or maybe didn’t get it. I don’t notice any impact but I have one follower and only use it to compete with myself and create snap to routes using the heatmap. I’ve discovered many excellent routes with almost no effort using that feature.

I finally watched the video, and apparently this breaks trainerroad and zwift until January. So that's annoying.

These changes apparently are centered around stopping leaks of private data. Although they also want to corner the market on AI analysis. What they have now is a joke though.

I have always made fun of Ride With GPS for wanting to be strava, but they may finally get their wish. Only problem is that I doubt they can replicate leaderboards and segments. Hopefully they don't take on investors they can't placate, like strava did.

I'm a paid member and don't think I got a email, I use garmin for outdoor rides but I am bit concerned if Zwift and Strava won't play nice and I use Zwift indoors a fair amount.

If you and your family members have Apple iPhones you can share your location with them for free.

I’ve been a Strava user for over 10 years. I appreciate the ability to create and compare segments. It’s encouraging to see that I’m nearly as fast as I was in my early forties. I recently bought an Amazfit Chinese spy smartwatch that tracks my rides and syncs data to Strava. Hopefully that doesn’t get broken by whatever the latest changes are. I appreciate the simplicity of pushing 2 buttons on my watch to start and stop recording my rides.

I'm not sure there's any issues with Zwift uploading to Strava, only if there is a 3rd app that is linked to Strava and pulls data from Strava to populate their stuff (you do a ride, Zwift uploads to Strava, 3rd party app then pulls that ride data from Zwift).. I think there is some racing stuff that isn't officially Zwift, but Zwift-affiliated that does this maybe? At least that's how I understand it..

also, I'm a subscriber and either didn't get an email or did and totally ignored it.. could be either to be honest..

I don't. I take the money I save and apply it to my Flobikes subscription, which is now absolutely useless here in the US.
