Cable end ball caps, cable cherries. Who knew
I spend an inordinate amount of time on the internet and in bike shops. I have never seen these until 2 days ago. Never seen any on the 1000s of bikes in the wild. Is that because nobody uses them? Maybe if you change your bike setup often otherwise maybe not. Could be more of a mountain bike thing which is not my world.

They need to be aero tested before I put them on my bike

Forager Cycles came up with the idea, I think: https://foragercycles.com/products/c...40284764602534
I first saw them on Paul's Components' page. The amazon ones are knock-off/copy cat. |

Yea, I've seen those before. On the internet, never in real life.
Super niche product for sure, but if you're building a show bike or something where every detail matters, I can see the appeal. The amazon ones are definitely knock-offs, but no surprise there.

Was it Nashbar that sold cable ends in the shape of a skull back in the 90s?
Didn't appeal to me at all so I don't know if those used a grub screw to secure like these ball ones. |

When coming up with the product name, it must be a drinking game where product managers go at it 'till someone's face falls on a keyboard, out pops the letters and...voila!

They look reusable which is a positive.
We're always throwing these little bits out. Not that it's really a big deal with how environmentally friendly cycling can be, and I bet a lot of these small parts are actually recyclable. |
