South Florida gravel riding?
I'm going to be in the Ft Lauderdale area for a week in December. I am taking the auto train down from up north therefore I can bring my bike along. I'd prefer to stay off the roads, have seen a few things about Markham Park which is a short drive from where I'll be but no definite info on a rail/canal trail there. Any suggestions on routes, other things to look into? I don't mind just doing an out and back a few times but want to get on the bike and enjoy the weather while everyone back home is freezing their butts off or on the trainer..
On a side note I know about the LOST which I plan to ride on my way back up to Sanford to catch the train back home. |

Hey. The best place is the Levee Trail in Everglades National Park.
You can park at Markham Park and ride up onto the levee. Miles and miles of open trail. Not sure how many miles you are planning to do. I am sure there are a bunch of Strava routes posted. Some good road riding in Weston. Maybe jump on the Bigwheel Ride out of Hollywood. Fast! There is also a Velodrome a few miles away at Piccolo Park. There is a criterium course there too. Good stuff! Enjoy! Last edited by maxcolumbus; Today at 01:44 PM. |
