OT: most comfortable -office- shoe?

Can we talk about office friendly socks for summer that double as commuters, next? I ran through all the lightweight models of darn tough and they don't hold up at all.

Yes spendy, my chukkas are going on 12 years old so price per wear is not too bad. They've been resoled 3 times and likely 6 sets of heals.

Shoes, jeans and bikes is where I spend my money.

As a former shoe salesman let me suggest that if you buy the right size shoes they won't need "breaking in" because the shoe will bend where your foot bends from the first day. Once we lost many old-time shoe stores that stocked a range of sizes like 7-13 in b,c,d,eee widths with a widths a few select sizes so many guys were told to buy smaller sizes in wider widths than they should have had.

Shoe widths are ratios not absolute numbers so a 10c may be the same actual width as a 9d. This allows shops to carry only d or eee widths and tell customers that as long as their toes aren't rubbibg they have the right size when they really should have about 1/2" clearance up fron for toes. Look up Brannock Device to learne about fitting shoes.

I wear Boardroom merino over-the-calf socks both for commuting and at work. They’re made in USA and hold up very well.
