The fine particulates in wildfire smoke are *especially harmful* to your lungs. It's a good idea to check your air quality daily. If you have wildfire smoke in your area do not ride. |

If you take a ride around the NYC reservoir system, in the basins you will see old foundations and roads, where the water used to be. Ghost towns seem to be rising from the basins.

The fire we smelled today was Lynn Woods, which is a popular MTB spot. 200 acres burning.
The thing with far away wild fires (Canada or Washington for us) was you could kind of tell the sky looked weird but it wasn't super obvious. This local fire it was super obvious. You wouldn't go out in it if you had any choice. Even in the car with the filter my eyes & throat were irritated, even though we couldn't actually see the direct plume of smoke from the fire. But it's raining tonight, though I'd worry not hard enough. |

It rained a little last night in NYC. Unfortunately, there's no significant rainfall in the 10-day forecast.

I went out for a ride today, but I turned back around quickly. The acrid smell of burning wood was in the air.

Yes. I was going to run this morning, and it's very smoky out today. Still no rain in sight. Scary,

The AQI is good out this way at 23. Looks like there are possibilities of showers Thurs and Friday.
