Loose freehub body on Campy Shamals
I thought my cassette was loose, tried to tighten it and no dice. Pulled off the cassette and the freehub body has a little play. Also does NOT want to spin freely. Can I just get another freehub body for $100 and swap that out? Or do I need to do a more extensive service? Any comments, tips, "while you're in there's" much appreciated.
I found this video on how to rebuild my fhb body. The biggest hassle would be finding and waiting for replacement parts. If a new fhb body would be more plug and play, it would be worth the extra $40 to me. |

If you're seeing movement, check the 17mm locknut on the Drive side (it is LH threaded), ensure it's secure (15NM).
If you're still getting play, then check the pre-load collar pin the NDS. If you still have play, then go ahead and replace the bearings in the Freehub body. It's not complicated. |

I followed that same video to fix the same problem you have. For me it was only the outer bearing that needed replacement. it was a fun little project. I found a cheap set of little snap ring pliers on Amazon as that was the only tool I was lacking.
