OT: RIP Roy Haynes, all-time great jazz drummer
I just listened again to one of his many great recordings, "Bouncing with Bud": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0t5gbhk4l7k.
Here's a great drum solo with the Stan Getz Quartet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBeBnnqpOcs.

Roy played on more milestone recordings in any decade of his career than most musicians do in their entire lifetimes. RIP.

Back in the day I had his drum intro on Solar from record he did with Pat Metheny and Dave Holland - Question and Answer - on my answering machine. 99 years. RIP

I had the privilege to see him perform live in NYC back in, oh, 2015-2016, somewhere around there. A treasured memory. Wallace Roney sat in with him and his band for a few tunes to play from Miles' 1960s book. Both now passed away. RIP.
