I guess the aarn product never made it into production. Anyone know of one I can actually buy today that results in ~42.5mm chainline?

Garbaruk will do custom chainrings. Also reach out to Alugear.

Neither of those companies appear to produce 1/8" chainrings. I really think a 144 bcd spider is a better option.

3 bolt or 8 bolt?

Experimented with a 3 bolt as a fixed gear a long while back, and it resulted in the spider sliding when back pedaling. Do not recommend.

8 bolt seems to work pretty well from everything I've read.

Raketa if they had them in stock (could always contact them to make one) or Ignite components would be my choices

I don't have a crank so open to both 3 or 8 bolt, but I liked the idea of this because 170mm 3-bolt Force arms are pretty easy to come by for short money.

Thanks, I was unaware of the Ignite components. I definitely would prefer the chainring to sit on a shelf on the outer edge for aesthetics but beggars and choosers. I'll see if Raketa is still doing them.

The 3 bolt and 8 bolt sram cranks are not designed for fixed gear use on the road. The low torque spec (9Nm for 3 bolt and 4Nm for 8 bolt) wont stop the spider for rocking back and forth causing damage to the splines.

fwiw I measured it at about 43mm on my setup, which is definitely close enough for rock and roll.
