Crispy and breezy day on Martha’s Vineyard, very clear skies. Habanero in winter mode with MKS RX1 track pedals with MKS clips, no straps. I like this setup better than pinned flats for locating the shoe on the pedal while being able to ride in street shoes.

Fall in the Willamette Valley

Laced up the running shoes today instead of the bike.
I don't know when the hammer is going to drop, but the weather here has just been outstanding for outdoor pursuits so far this fall. I wonder what kind of winter we will have....

Finishing Iceman last Saturday.
2:33 for 33 miles was enough for tenth in 70-74 age group. |

I caught the beginning of a forest fire in the Elizabeth Furnace in the Fort Valley area George Washington National Forest. Sad and also beautiful. Hiking trails in the area are closed. Life goes on for the cows and goats, business as usual.

Out this morning for around 30 miles on the beautiful Moser I picked up here awhile ago. Cold ride but made worth it when I stumbled on a young bull Elk.
The Moser was flying under me for about 1/3 of the ride. We need snow to cover up all the brown we have now. Deserted beach The Elk Finishing with another pic of the classic Italian beauty |

I picked up several rolls of film from the lab and got some pics back from a ride in lake minnewaska that I did with a couple of buddies. Bluebird day.

Its a custom ti Cysco-small builder out of Tennessee, around for a couple years 2010-12 ish. Former Lynskey/Litespeed welder that went out on his own. Bike has some neat details, biaxial downtube, shaped stays. Wasn't custom for me but fits like it was. Great TPC purchase/deal around 2017 for $800/frame.
Has "dirty south" etched on stays. Build photos of mine and some others - https://cyscocycles-blog.tumblr.com/ |

These photos are from a ride maybe a month ago. Shot on an Olympus XA 2 with Portra 400 Film.

A few from this morning's group ride. We had six people, which is a humble but exciting record for our group of Front Royal locals doing a non-Skyline oriented ride.
After a brief illness caused by defective TPU tubes and a AWOL shift cable, Rufus Wario Choncho Naomi Watanabe is back in action! These next two pics are the essence of our local group rides: Usually in total disarray, no paceline of any kind lasts for more than 2 minutes (if I'm being generous), and jolly good happy-go-lucky times from start to finish. The photo above is taken on an obscure walking trail in Rockland Park. We were compelled to reroute through the park after the construction site we wanted to ride through --which has been keeping the road closed for months now-- was blocked by a sitting train. Fortunately, one of the fellas in our group has lived here for ages AND he was the head of the town planning committee, so he spends a lot of time looking at maps and also has spent a lot of time exploring all the area's nooks and crannies, so was able to conjure up some total navigational wizardry and get us where we needed to be. Some of the best 10 minutes of riding I've done all year. Super narrow, super steep, lots of gravel and cr-r-r-r-r-unchy leaves, exploring somewhere (mostly) new. If you didn't download the route beforehand, don't worry: Just folla the challah. Stopped at The Locke Store and stocked up on one half of the grilled cheese essentials for the week. Mrs Baroness Blubba was very happy to see that not only was the lump under my jacket not malignant, it was delicious! Or maybe it was just lost in appreciation for the mural. |
