Winspace wheel truing

Been truing wheels for something like 30 years now, but this set seems to have me frustrated. Removed the tire and the rim tape so that I could access the nipples using the nut driver. Using a plastic tool to hold the bladed spoke to prevent twisting, yet still it doesn’t seem to be working.

Should I hold the spoke with the tool and loosen the nipple completely, then drop some or oil on the threads before re-tightening? Any other tips or tricks?

Ari

If they are built using alloy nipples they are likely corroded. In which case you'll spend a ton of time trying to remove them versus cutting the spokes and rebuilding.

Here is a video of a guy truing a wheel.
Looks like you hold the nipple and use a driver to adjust ?

Putting a drop of penetrating oil on each end of the nipples and waiting a day might help.

Thanks man, that was the trick that eluded my Google fu earlier. Nut driver for tension adjustment as you hold nipple and thus spoke, in place

You’re welcome I was interested in buying a set so I did a lot of googling.
I just ended up getting a custom-made far sport set.
