MTB ? - Anyone ride the Epic 8
I currently have a pivot switchblade but am interested in the Epic 8 as it seems to fit my riding choices better. Epic 8 gets really good reviews as a CC bike but also as double duty for a semi down country ish bike. I threw a leg over both and the longer reach of the Epic 8 EVO felt a little better but that may be because I am used to the reach and slackness of the switchblade. Another thing that gives me pause above the EVO is that even Pinkbike gives the nod to the Epic 8 over the EVO version stating that they feel like the EVO is a compromised afterthought and 120/120 is how the Epic should be.
Anyway, would love input if anyone has been on one. Thanks. Wes |

Epic 8
The Epic 8 differs in geometry- Has steeper seat angle, more reach and a higher bb. So for riders looking for a modern geometry bike- This will be closer to that. For folks that like/need a rearward saddle position, the bike could be less ideal
The 8 has a stiffer and snappier feel, but that could be due to the Flight Attendant or 3-position lockout depending on which platform you get. Even though cable routing is through the headset, the 8 should be an improvement over the Evo. The Evo had an issue where the rear disc and dropper hose enter the frame. The guide/cover never stayed put. That said- They are both very good bikes and you can find a well equipped Evo for a lot less $. |
