Assuming this is real . . .
. . . looks like all they lost is the frame.
But this is the number one reason I will never have a roof rack! Seen so many photos like this! BBD

That will *not* buff right out.
...but...it looks staged. The standoffs holding the pipe show no movement and I'm not sure how the handlebars would get hooked on the pipe that way.

That is a very clean cut for a break of this type.
I rock a roof rack all the time, and the only time I have touched something like this was with my Yakima box on top of a VW Multivan in Germany. The garage dude came out yelling at me, but it was just scraping the top. |

I always worry about this when I have my bikes on a roof rack. Most of the time I’m good, but I might or might not admit to the two brake lever-shaped indentions in the header of our garage door frame.
