Thanks! I wish I could say that things are noticeably better, but sadly I'm still struggling. From my perception, my eyesight hasn't really improved at all. My brain is still "broken" and I don't feel the same internally as pre-crash. I've mostly given up any hope of doing group rides which used to be a significant part of my life. I have been doing a short ride with a great friend around my neighborhood. So, my cycling has cut down from at least 150 miles a week to maybe 15.

Still can't consider driving and surfing is also out for at least a while. My wife said it well the other day that I can no longer participate in the things I loved to do before.

Even given this situation, I am happy to be alive because I may not have survived. I'm also very grateful that I am able to do all that I can. When I compare my status to many that I did rehab with, I'm feel a great blessing. I have also had a couple of significant people came into my life recently that may make a difference for me. I am also very happy that I can remember most things about my life. I may not recall some details or names, but can remember many things. One of the ladies who was in my rehab, could not remember her husband :-(

I'm about 11 months away from my crash in early Dec '23. I have constantly asked my rehab doc about when I would feel normal again. He said that I asked him that every time we met, and he said I would most likely never feel the way I did before. But hopefully in 12 to 18 months from my TBI, I should start to accept my new normal.

Keith I guess you put it into perspective by comparing to how much worse others have it. You have the loving support of your family and friends and you know and interact with them, and us.
I think you just have to drop expectations and comparisons and take each slight progress as a massive win, it is.
The human body is complex and recovery can take years. I'm pretty confident that your recovery journey is nowhere near finished. I wish you and yours all the best and hope to read more and more from you. . Kia kaha!

Keith,
Wishing you well from the other corner of the lower 48 states.
I hope you might at least relax in the warm ocean.
Floating and moving appeal to me with age.
I think we all appreciate how others deal with hardships better than we might.
I hope to meet the challenge like you.

Good to hear from you, Keith. As others have said, fortunately you seem to be able to see the positive aspects and realize that things will continue to improve.

Welcome back.
Things like this always go slower than you want them to. I remember the feeling of being a beat off after one of my accidents. Took a while for that to subside, and mine was not nearly as severe.
Give yourself time and space to recover. You'll get there.

Keith, part of healing is being aware that you're not yet 'there'. I managed to physically heal from my accident last fall, yet mentally still not 'there'. Hang on to hope, it's like a life-preserver.

Lots of people thinking of you, and all would be proud to join you on the weekly rides!
