why are my photos always sideways?

what am I doing wrong? every time I post a photo on this forum they are sideways. they do not do that on other forums that I am on.

Smartphone photos? Probably taken in "portrait" orientation (phone upright, not sideways)?

The desktop and mobile software looks at the photos EXIF metadata and displays it correctly. For whatever reason, vBulletin forum software doesn't do this and just displays it as-is (which ends up 90* off).

The "fix" is to save off the photo and rotate it manually on desktop. Or upgrade the forum software.

Yes this forum uses old forum software. That does alway handle photos well.

it does not matter if photo is taken vertical or horizontal..I have tried both ways. I have tried editing the photo to rotate it and it still posts sideways. i have not tried saving to desk top and rotating I will try that. thanks..

Or iphone

In edit just crop the portrait photo a tad.
Then an a upload from photos (options menu to reduce file size)
