I'm sure that the wifi has some benefits in some use case scenarios, but I have been riding Zwift with a kickr pretty regularly going on 4+ years now, and I really can't think of any ride where I wish I had the wifi.

If you are going to use Zwift and think you may want virtual shifting, the v6 is your choice. The 5 isn’t currently compatible and likely never will be.
Virtual shifting is great BTW. Had it on my kickr bike for going on 4 years and it’s pretty awesome. |

Both are great prices. I would buy the v6 as I would love virtual shifting. I might buy both at those prices.

This is what I would do. Ride the v.6 and keep the v.5 as a backup,

OP posted that's not the trainer price, but trainer-some other funds. I would also be buying $50 kickrs all day, working or not.
