Did you use those gravel tires for your CX races?

Took the kids out to watch the last cross race of the year in our local series. Not racing this time, so got some nice photos.

What an incredibly positive environment! Our youngest loves running alongside the racers yelling encouragement (his default yell is still "yallah yallah yallah," which blends into a more familiar "allez" when repeated loudly and rapidly enough). Our oldest marveled at the racer's speed and effort--much easier for him to recognize now that he is a full-time bike commuter to high school.

Good times.

Not a bad venue for a cross race, right?

The bottom of the bowl (the earthworks are a CCC-era project designed to prevent flooding and mudslides from the canyon during spring melt) was quite muddy (though not apparent in this photo). Seemed appropriate.

Fantastic looking bike @gospastic!

Awesome photos @robin3mj!

I took out the Crux for a muddy race last weekend, but still testing the scarcely treaded Dugast Smallbird TLR tires. Fun conditions, with rain the day before, but not overly sloppy.

SoCal Cyclocross?

Still waiting for this year’s schedule😕 My kids and I raced years ago and it was pretty lively scene with participation increasing every year. There were two different series and now when I get the bug to race again there is nothing scheduled. Sacramento has already had 4 or 5 races. Anyway, I’m getting a bike ready—‘73 Peugeot 1X5 rolling on Mavic Monthlery/Normandy Lux/Grifo33. I haven’t run in 5 or 6 years due to some tendinopathy but that is about to change😁
