SRAM XO 9spd rear derailleur with road shifters?

Just another in a long line of stupid questions:

I have a 9spd SRAM XO double group that I love, and am wondering if the derailleur and cassette work with any road shifters? I am shifting back and forth about building this cheapy bike with flat bar or drop bar, and this may influence the decision. If there are no appropriate shifters and I am determined to go with a drop bar, then the XO stuff will go back into my jewellry box for another day .

I believe this will work so long as you have a SRAM shifter that is branded "Exact Actuation." 10 speed is weird, so I believe you cannot use a 10 speed SRAM shifter unless your derailleur is also 10 speed.

If both the shifter and derailleur are labelled exact actuation they'll work together, regardless of how many speeds. I've used an exact actuation X0 rear derailleur with both sram force 10 and 11 speed drop bar shifters along with their corresponding cassettes.

Nice, yeah, I wasn't sure about 10 speed. "Exact actuation" are definitely the magic words. I also believe "X-Actuation" is something else?

I don't recall any 9 speed road shifters. Exact Actuation was 10 speed. The 9 speed rear derailleurs are labeled "1 to 1 Actuation Ratio".

I originally posted that I used an X0 derailleur with Campy 10 shifters, but after Oliver's post realized that was a 10spd Exact Actuation derailleur, not 9, so I edited. Sorry.
