Anyone on here live near Lake Eden Road, Black Mountain NC? Are roads passable today? Sorry I’m not from the area and trying to find out

I'm central NC, but the NCDOT has said to consider all roads in western NC closed until further notice. Flooding is bad and getting worse

Almost certainly not. The Swannanoa River is flooding at historic levels and borders the road you are talking about. Buncombe County officials have asked everyone in the area not to travel unless evacuating to higher ground.

Wow….just found out my daughter was in a cabin that got washed away soon after they evacuated to larger building. Larger building then got hit by mudslide destroying part of that building they were staying in as they were literally running out of it! Had to then cross rushing water to get to safer ground. Lucky to be alive. Broken ankle (we think) but can’t get to her right now but she’s in good hands @ safe location. Not sure if everyone was as lucky as her group to get out but stay safe.

Wow - what a terrifying experience, for her and you both. So glad to hear she was able to make it to safety, and I hope her ankle heals quickly.

We got hit pretty good here in Virginia but nothing like what is going on down there. This is a disaster of epic proportion. Currently 1000 people still missing in the Ashville area. Not good. Glad to hear your daughter is safe.

Mudslides are scary bad in mountain storms, thank goodness she's safe.
The volunteer helicopter pilots are doing some amazing rescue/relief work, many kudos to those guys. Seems anyone with a copter has shown up at Hickory airport.

Donate to relief efforts if you can, absolute devastation. My daughter and her team luckily made it out with just a severe sprained ankle. Difference between life and death just came down to seconds... thousands of others not as lucky and could use help.
