Do you register your bikes? Bike Index, Project 529, other...

I've got my bikes registered on Bike Index (bikeindex.org).
I've only recently became aware of Project 529.
I see the Toronto Police have updated their registry form the pretty shameful BBS looking set up but it's still seriously lacking.

Do you register your bikes? Which one do you use?

The shop where I bought my wife’s ebike registered on Project529 for me. I’ve never heard of it before. Maybe it’s a Canadian thing?

I just checked bikeindex. I have three (of about ten) registered. One of them has been torn down and is for sale as a bare frame. I need to update my records.

You need to have paper work and serial numbers if your bike is stolen. The police will not step in if you don’t.

How does it work if there's no serial number? Do you just need more evidence/proof that it's yours?

Finally got mine listed on bikeindex. Thanks for the reminder. You can check a box that says no serial number, which I couldn't find on my custom frame. I emailed the builder just to make sure I didn't miss it somewhere, waiting to hear back. Also uploaded pictures, so maybe that'll help, especially the pics with me in them.
