While not quite the same thing, I've been using a 44/28 crank with a Campagnolo 11spd system (11-32 cassette). As cgolvin notes, the front derailleur hanger wasn't low enough, but I used a Wick Werks Fit Link to the get the derailleur lower. With the derailleur adjusted to the right height, it works fine.

I believe the Chain line was 1.5mm different but nothing the setup couldn’t handle. Just need to use the pro tech bottom bracket and make sure the front derailleur can get low enough
