What is the main threat out there? Some kind of weird/shape pavement, thorns?

Our pavement looks like hell but I never really have flat issues on any bike or type of tire anymore. I do avoid the stuff that's in the absolute tip top weight weenie/supple/low-RR stuff though. E.x. I would run a Rene Herse tire but I would only get the standard or endurance casing.

I have run a bunch of Specialized S-works Turbo, but I never get the cotton version.

I am assuming the tires are checked/pumped to the correct pressure every single ride... that is part of avoiding issues.

Presumably you are in the part of Eastern Mass where Boston isn't?

I'm only 15 miles out. I used to commute into Cambridge and never had a flat going in there.

But 99% of the time I elect to ride further out, not in towards the city.

Boston is still clean enough it's a shock to visit NYC or other cities. We were in Seattle a few weeks ago and it looked like a trash dump compared to most of Boston. (Obviously there are some neighborhoods that are worse than others everywhere)
