Oh the horror…

So what do you full suspension mountain bikers do to track down a creak? My sons bike has an annoying creak and I don’t know where to start - it’s got pivots everywhere, internal hoses, press fit bb…just venting, I hate tracking them down on road bike and this seems to have way more possibilities!

First thing I do is check the thru axles, then I check that the cassette is tight. You can check to see if the pivots have any unusual play.

All free and simple stuff first. Check all bolts and wheel mounts, pedal mounts, grease seatpost.

Hold the rear brake and flex the rear wheel side to side. That’s usually how you find pivot problems the fastest.

It's the bottom bracket.

If you remove the rear shock you can cycle the suspension up and down with no resistance which will tell you if the pivots or bearings are an issue..... you could also let the air out of the rear shock to accomplish the same thing but IMO that's more of a hassle.

What's this "suspension" thing you speak of?
