Campagnolo Shamal Ultra wheel truing help
Are the spokes on the Ultra wheels Loctited or somehow glued to the rim? If so what is the trick to releasing the bond between the two? I need to true a wheel and don't want to experience the same kind of problems with Ksyruim rims and risk rounding a spoke nipple. Appreciate the tips.

I had the same problem ages ago. I think the issue is that the aluminum spokes they use corrode inside the nipples and ultimately seize up.
I'd start by dripping some good penetrating oil down the spoke into the nipple and letting them sit for a while. Good luck!

Campagnolo Shamal Ultra wheel truing help
Thank you. I have some Kroil which is an excellent penetrating oil. They will get a good soak today. I have had to use a heat gun on some cranks before now where a clown installed the pedals with Loctite. The heat softened up the Loctite to the point where I could finally unscrew them.

Do you have a bladed spoke holder tool? You will need one.
Also, just to confirm the issue: does it seem that the nipple and spoke turn together? Or are you unable to get the nipple to turn at all? |

Campagnolo Shamal Ultra wheel truing help
I picked the wheels up on a bike and the prior owner said he tried turning the spoke nipple and it would not move. Have not physically tried it myself yet but I am sure I will need to hold that spoke while attempting to turn the nipple. I have a couple of Mavic keys with the thin slot in to hold the spoke and hopefully that will fit.

Be careful-it is pretty easy to break those aluminum spokes when trying to true the wheel (ask me how I know ).
If I was doing it again I would probably try some heat on the nipple as well as penetrating oil before pulling any torque on anything. |

Heat is essential, there's a very strong threadlocker on the last/first 5mm or so of the thread.
Use a fresh good quality 6mm wrench and a spoke holder. |

Would a household hair dryer provide enough heat or would I need to get an industrial type electric heat gun (basically an industrial hair dryer)? |

I used a heat gun at I believe 180C.
