Are there any great rim brake frames that are also inexpensive? The SL6 is the opposite of what I’m looking for.

The market is really soft for used titanium and steel rim brake bikes.
Know your fit numbers and jump on some good deals out there.

The Look 585, Time Alpe D'Huez and Focus Izalco Max does it for me as modern rim brake framesets. I do have a Focus Izalco Max frameset available if interested:

Basicallly anythign except an SL6! Most rim brake frames are worth basically nothing now unless there's something particularly desirable about them.

Just fabbed up a new bike for myself.
Up to 700x35 and down to 700x30 with decent lean angle.
Velo Orange brakes are nice.

Unless you ride a 50 or similarly sized bike. I look constantly and haven't found a steel bike that takes 30s and that fits me

Cervelo S3 gen 2 (2016-18) or gen 3 (2019) are really nice.

They carry most of the aero of an S5 but none of the faff. I.e. standard stem/bar combo.

Bonus points as they are slightly more generous with stack than the S5.

I have a 2018 model that I bought to race crits and it's fast become my favourite bike.

I keep a constant eye out for a 2019 model (pros: direct mount, some slight aero improvements, nicer colours, cons: a funny/heavy quill-style stem) but they seem to be rare due to the short production run at a time where everyone had shifted to disc.

I'd agree with this is you aren't looking for carbon.. and I think there is a CAAD10 in a 54, if that's your size.. I could fit 28s on mine FWIW..

Canyon Ultimate rim brake was great.

I had both the carbon and the aluminium at one stage.

Kept the aluminium…..

Found this 2013 Allez Race for a good deal on FB marketplace last year. Came with Sram Force 22 which I dumped in favor of Record 11.

This frame surprised the hell out of me and I keep trying to find excuses to pull it out of the stable of 11 as frequently as possible.

First and only Specialized road frameset I've ridden. When compared to the CAAD12 I had a few years back, this Allez rips and rides as a road bike should with zero compromises. The CAAD felt a bit "dead" when compared to other bikes but still not a bad bike overall.

(They come in other colors if abhorrent Gold isn't for you )
