Hookless rims with 650b x 50-54mm tires

I’m looking to add a second set of wheels for my “all-road” bike.
Currently have a set of road wheels (700x32 tires).
I was trying to decide between 700 x 40 or 650 x 54. I think I’m going to give the 650b another shot. Previous bikes I’ve tried them on felt much slower than 700.
But since the 650’s will be used for chunky jeep roads here in Utah, I figured that might be the better way to go since my bike maxes out at 700 x 40, which feels little too skinny.

I was looking at the BTLOS offerings. They’ve got some nice wheel packages for around $1k, with DT240, the weight comes in under 1,200g.
The issue is, the rims only come hookless. I’ve got hookless on my mountain bike and it’s been trouble-free. I’m just leery on a road bike, when I’m flying downhill on dirt or asphalt at 50mph.
I’m wondering if I should just go for it or find something else. Thanks.

These are the ones I’m considering. Even though it’s marketed as an XC wheelset. I can swap the front end caps to 12mm.

As long as you are running the tire pressures that you should be for a 2.1" tire for off-road riding - 20 to 28 psi ish, rider weight and conditions dependent - hookless rims are going to be absolutely fine.

Yeah, 650x54 is basically mtb, so no real difference.

all my 650b wheels have been hookless on my all road bikes and run anywhere from 47mm to 2.25”. The pressures for me are very low, lower than I can run with my mtb, so no issues.

Been running the WM-i22A hookless on two wheelsets since 2021 and close to 10,000 miles, 650B in 38 and 42 widths, GK slicks, max pressure of 40 psi. No hint of an issue.
