Shimano 12 speed Chainring Compatibility?

Hey folks, reading online, it seems to state that shimano 12 speed road rings should all be compatible with all shimano 12 speed road crank arms.

I needed an extra set of rings for a set of 12 speed cranks, and grabbed a set of 105 12 speed rings. They -do- sit properly in terms of lining up with the bolt holes, but do not line up cleanly with the spider arms. Pics attached. Normal, OK to use?? I do have it aligned the right way, the little nub behind the crank arm and the 105 logo on top..

Also, somewhat related... Can someone tell me, on the small 105 ring, is the side with the raised bubble/ring around it supposed to face out, or in towards the frame??

Thx!!
