I've never had a defective pack of Lizardskins like the OP, and I like the feel of the tape a lot, but it is a little faster wearing than other options. My favorite tape is Supacaz Sticky Kush. It feels great to the touch, is very grippy, and lasts a long time. $40+ a roll isn't cheap, but bar tape that feels great adds soooo much to the enjoyment of riding my bike that it's worth it. One of those underrated little things, it seems, but the difference between liking a bike and loving a bike can sometimes come down to the bar tape. Makes sense, it's the most touchy-feely touch point there is, especially if you ride without gloves.

I like this stuff too. Easton Microfiber is nice as well, just a little bit too squishy to qualify as a favorite, but it's really good and relatively inexpensive.

I only get that after several months, and I ride a lot more than most people. Where are you buying this tape from?

Used it once as it came on a bike I bought. Was brand new tape and within weeks it looked like the pic above....totally shredded/peeling.

I've been a fan of Fizik Microtex for at least a decade and it's never failed me. You can always find it on sale and tons of colors. Not super stretchy, but durability is top notch.

I don't remember where I got it - tape is usually a basket filler when I buy other stuff. But why should that matter?
I have sent that photo to LS, and got no answer.
I have used the thinner 1.8mm version without trouble.

I used Cinelli cork tape for years, and recently tried Lizard Skins. I didn’t care for it; it was fragile while applying and I didn’t really think the feel was that special. But I’ve never really paid much attention to bar tape, as I thought cork tape was a big step up from cloth tape I used to use.

And then I tried the Silca tapes. Game-changer for me. The tapes are strong so I can pull to get a nice tight fit on the bend, they are long enough to do a figure eight around the levers with 44cm bars, and the butterfly piece they provide to cover the brake lever clamp is genius. I have the 2.5mm Nastro Cuscino on my commuter and just got the Piloti (1.8mm) for my road bike. Comfortable, tough, and enough colors to match most paint schemes.
