Swapping dt Swiss 350 freehubs

Hello.
I have a 350 boost hub with an xd driver.
I have a 350 142mm hub with a hd driver.
Can I just swap drivers and end caps between 350/148 and 350/142 hubs?

Yes,
DT 12x142mm and 12x148mm rear hubs use the same end caps

If I have a a 142mm road 11 freehub and endcap, would that also work then?

Probably fine, will need to index gears regardless of using the road vs MTB Shimano FHB.

But you'll have to consider the 1 mm narrow total length of your drive train (141 mm instead of 142 mm). Because MTB Freehubs are 1mm more narrow than road freehubs.

The dt swiss ecosystem feels so reasonable.

Thanks for the links and the info.

I just need to order spokes now.

Can you install? Yes, but I think the hub shells are different dimensions. Boost being longer, center to flange. Not sure how that may affect what you are trying to do.....Where the rotor ends up, etc...Using a Boost rear hub in a 142 frame and vice versa.

The FH should be the same, the difference is in the hub shell.

Keep in mind you cant convert boost to non-boost, but you can go the other way around with rotor spacers/end caps. Caps may even be the same (they are on my raceface vault hubs) so check the part numbers.

I also emailed dt Swiss and got a reply.
I can indeed swap the mountain hg freehub and end cap from my older mountain 142 with the xd driver and end cap from my newer boost/148 hub.

The boost will still be a boost but with an hg hub which allows the use of the shimano cassettes I want for this build.

The 142 will still be 142 but now xd.

I hope that is useful for others as well.
