Giro Mountain vs Road shoe sizing

Hi all,
I've used the search function, but couldn't find an answer. I'm hoping that someone can tell me if the sizing between Giro's mountain bike shoes and their road shoes is the same? I have a pair of Giro road shoes that fit great, and am looking to get a pair of their MTB shoes, but just want to figure out if I should order the same size. I know this seems like a silly question, but I've encountered variations in same-brand sizing before.
Thanks!

My experience is that the mountain shoes fit slightly smaller than the road shoes, toe box is a little shorter. 48 road shoes fit me great but I'm moving to 49 in mountain.

For me, they fit about the same. 42.5 in both, rode mountain ones today and road ones yesterday.

Same here. I ride a 46.5 Giro road and a 47 Giro mountain.

I use the same size Giro in both disciplines, size 42, Factor and Privateer.

45 in empire, vr90, terradura, code, and factor. I like giro shoes and the 45 fits me perfectly in all the styles I've tried.

My road and MTB Giro shoes are the same size, and the MTB are definitely a little tight. I had the road first, then bought MTB assuming they'd fit same. If I had to do it again I'd buy MTB 1/2 size bigger.

I know this is an old post, but confirming the same experience and recently I've been trying out the G8 insoles and I cut them to fit my 45 Giro Empire road shoes and then I could barely fit them in the VR90 MTB version, which I had thought shared the same upper.

I emailed Giro and they said that their road and mountain shoes have different lasts and construction, so it's expected that they fit differently. Anyway, I just ordered a pair of 45.5 VR90's...

Following up, I had to send the 45.5 back as they’re still considerably tighter than the 45 in the road version. I tried them on side by side, and the shape is quite a bit different, with much more toe spring in the road shoe. Hoping that a 46 will be a better fit. I read that there are about 3 Euro sizes per American size.

Lining my 45 VR90’s up against the 45.5 didn’t show much of a visible difference and they felt similar, due to stretching in my current pair of 45’s.

Do you wear different thickness socks for MTB vs Road?

I wear the same socks depending upon season. Always Smartwool and thicker in cold.
