SRAM AXS Hood Installation
Hi all. Have decided that it's time to replace the ratty looking hoods on my Rival AXS shifters. Have the new hoods in my hands but they look so small and I'm sure it's going to be a struggle to get them on properly. I plan on warming them up slightly with a heat-gun to make them slightly more pliable before attempting to install. It's one of those finicky looking things that I really hate doing. Any tips/tricks from the experts out there? Thanks.

Once it’s warm and pliable, liberal amounts of alcohol usually helps in my experience

Alcohol on the hoods, or for the installer? My experience is both can be helpful.

Just replaced the hoods on my torn AXS mechanical. Honestly was a lot easier than I remember hoods being.
I don’t have any tips or tricks outside of be consistent and pull hard Curious about the heating up strategy. When it cools does it go back to being just as tight? Or does it lose some of its strength in the process? |

Ended up giving it a shot and it was much, much easier than I remember. Didn't use a heat gun and used firm pressure to work my way up and over the top of the hoods. Once they were past the tops it was just a few firm pulls and they were good to go!
