Wide Riser / swept bars for commuter/ATB: Wilde Rambler
One of the two bikes I acquired lately to replace my Rawland is a Wilde Rambler frame, and I'm going to build it as a somewhat upright "ATB". I haven't paid any attention to the current crop of super wide risers. What do y'all like?

Nitto makes the best bars in the world. I've thought about picking up a pair of the wilde bars for gravel roads but love my hunter smooth moves on my flat bar bike.

I have the Ritchey Kyote bars on my commuter. I cut them down to 700mm. Very comfy and would be good offroad in stock width.

2nd on the Kyote bars, on all of my MTB's. Lengthens reach. A big plus for me. Grip angle much easier on my older wrists.

A group of us built up 90's bikes which suffer the long low geometry affliction. Here's a few of the bars we're running that we are liking
Magic components moth bar (lots of sweep/rise) https://www.magiccomponents.work/product-page/mothbar Magic components worm bar (more rise less sweep) https://www.magiccomponents.work/product-page/wormbar Crust Ron's ortho bar https://crustbikes.com/products/rons...er-it-shows-up Nitto Tosco - like the ortho bar with more sweep, I run these and bent them in my vise to be more like Rons bar above. https://www.rivbike.com/products/handlebar-tosco-bar-1 for more modern geo both surly sunrise and soma dream bars fit well https://www.somafabshop.com/shop/som...=577,3558,2527 https://surlybikes.com/parts/sunrise_handlebar |

I have a new, never mounted set of Hunter Smooth Move (made by Nitto) low rise in black that I would sell. Bought them for a project that didn’t materialize. Currently out of stock at Hunter, but here’s the info: https://huntercycles.bigcartel.com/p...rise-handlebar
They have a nice vintage MTB feel to them with 15-degrees of back sweep (most MTB bars seem to have 7 or 8, up to 10 at the very high end, so these are significantly more swept back). Last edited by Xrslug; 04-08-2024 at 05:16 PM. |
