Q: Campy 12 chain on 11spd drivetrain?
So... I've tried twice to buy a 11spd chain online.
1st time - was sent Record 9spd chain. GRRR 2nd time - was sent Chorus 12spd chain. <sigh> Two different vendors. Can I use the 12spd chain on my Campy 11 drivetrain? Otherwise, does anyone have a new(ish) Campy 11 chain they'd like to trade for a 12? (or a 9 although I think that's doubtful). Thanks, Taz

I've got a Record 12s chain on a bike with 1st gen 11s shifters and derailleurs. It works perfectly.

Yes. Record 12s chain is more than perfect on 11s drivetrain.

If you want one more Y, take it from me. Running 12spd Chorus chain on an 11sd Ultegra crankset. Works/shifts fine. In the past during my gradual transition from 10 to 11 I used 11s chains on 10spd hardware (DA), worked fine as well. My general impression is that 1-higher chain works just fine on any system. Notionally narrower chains are stronger since there is a smaller cantilever force on the rollers.
