SRAM flattop on an Ekar chainring?

Has anyone tried a SRAM 12s flattop chainring on an 13s Ekar chainring? Did it work?

I messing around with an AXS drivetrain, and I'd like to try it out with the installed Ekar crankset before I go to the trouble of buying a real AXS crankset.

I believe you need to triple check. There is now more than one "Flat Top" chain, and I believe one has larger rollers than the other.

This^ article is from an earlier era of flat top chains. It used to be that the only flattop was the "gravel" flat top (also some road groups I think) but now that the new Eagle derailleur is out with a new chain, it is ALSO a flattop but I believe has the smaller "normal" size rollers.

Triple check the chain rollers, triple check my beliefs. SRAM info is so undocumented that it should be on a bus to Marthas Vineyard.

There are 12 speed Sram road flat top chains, and there is a new Sram T Type chains that are only for new Transmission mtb groups. There is no gravel chain. Not hard to keep straight. https://www.sram.com/en/sram/mountai...levancy&page=1

I believe that interchangeable with SRAM is not the same as interchangeable with Campagnolo.
I believe if it was my bike I would use the NEW Flattop on Ekar.
I believe that although Red introduced the flattop chain, the chain was created with XPLR aka "gravel" in mind that was being developed but not had not debuted.

Why does Sram need to tell you the roller size? They are going to tell you to use Sram road flat top chains on Sram road 12 speed drivetrains. They aren't going to advise on any franken-drivetrain.

The only roller diameters I know for sure are the Red, Force and Rival AXS being the larger size, that follows the #40 chain standard 0.312 inch maximum diameter. Before that, all bike chains that I know of followed the #41 standard 0.306 inch maximum diameter.

The early eagle were not flat top and have the 0.306 maximum diameter roller.

Sram would never recommend mismatching any of them.

That is my suspicion too. That the best chain for Ekar is the NEW chain, which nearest I can figure is back to the smaller diameter. Unfortunately, that chain cost over twice as much.
