Serotta Colorado ii- No Serial Number?

Afternoon,

Anyone know of any Serotta models without a serial number? See attached BB pic.

Seems more than a few bikes were made and sold by employees out the back door. Hence no serial #

That does not look like the BB shell for a Colorado II. If you have the steel fork that came with the bike check the steerer tube for a serial number. It may have one on the BB but thick paint from a respray may be covering it.

Can you post more pics of the bike?

SC580177. That’s a stock Colorado 58 correct?

It must be an early model of the CII. The fillet brazing on the Downtube and seat tube at the BB and the bridge on the chain stays were done before Serrota had a BB cast that could accept the swagged 35mm down and seat tubes. The serial number indicates that it was the 177th CII made.

you can look at the serial numbers thread to help date the bike.
