Campy Record Pista Crankset Dust Covers stripped - suggestions?

I'm attempting to swap my Campy Record Pista crankset to a new track frame. When I went to remove the dust cover from the drive side crank, the hole for the allen wrench gave and started to round. After trying a few different times and with a few different tools, I've succeeded at basically rounding the hex into a increasingly large circle. I assume I threaded it on too tight to begin with -- Any idea how to get the dust cover off at this point? Since it's already ruined, destroying it is fine -- just don't want to damage the crank.

Slot the cap with a dremel to fit a large flat-blade screw driver.

Drill a small hole on the outer edge of the cap and tap it around with hammer and punch.

(Never done it; these are my guesses.)

Drill two small holes and use a pin spanner?

Thanks! I tried drilling a hole with my (pretty crappy) drill last night but literally couldn't scratch the surface for whatever reason. Sounds like I'll need to get a harder bit, but i think the hammer and pin technique might work.

If you don't want to scratch your crank, I'd stay the hell away from a hammer and punch.

Dremel a slot, use a big screw driver. NExt set, grease the threads.

If trying the drill method:

The surface is chromed, very hard. Probably need a high quality drill bit. Once trough the chrome the steel is relatively soft; careful when you drill through. A drill press would really help.

I have used 2nd option to remove one
sure not much value left when you do get it off

This. If you do a good job, the cap will still be useable. You should be able to drill through the chrome if you use a sharp center punch and small diameter drill to start.
