I can understand why the do it, but it would be great if Enve would just take a stand and bring production back to the states for everything. In 2024, $5,500 is not really outrageous for a frame, but I bet they could really rally more people around their brand if they differentiated themselves as a real US manufacturer. Otherwise to me, it's just another expensive carbon frame made by cheap labor in a cheap factory offshore.

That's what grinds my gears. In 2024, $5500 is normal for a frame made with cheap labor. When Carl Strong can sell a US made frame by paying fair wages to his workers (and I'm supposing health care), and sell the frame for $5400, a $5500 Enve (yah yah i know, it is a "module" with the same jacked up prices for their bars and seatpost) is an outrage along with a $5500 Aethos frame.
Enve should make them in the US and compete with the other makers. And in doing so, stand out from its competition. Quote:

For those advising Enve’s business strategy, you know Enve is owned by Amer Sports, which is owned by Anta, which is Chinese, right?

What a tangled web indeed. Makes me realize just how many "middle men" there are between the consumer and the product. No wonder a made in China Enve frame needs to cost $5,500. Someone needs to make the frame and get paid, then Anta needs to make a few bucks, then Amer gets their cut, Enve gets paid, Above Category skims a little off the top. Disgusting glut really. Make me even happier to support real local business and makers of things. I can't say I even understand the whole structure. What on earth value could a finnish company owning enve, but owned by Anta bring to the table??

Someone also needs to design, test and advertise the frame. Cheap labor isn’t the only factor in total cost.
I still think it’s expensive and a boring looking bike. I’m sure it rides quite nice and is generally what I’m after for my next all road bike. |

Fray = less aggressive geometry with slightly larger tires as optimal while borrowing from both melee and mog for design…large enough storage for a jacket is something I’d love to have! Mog - typical gravel bike with lots of clearance and designed for more off pavement riding. |

I don’t think I’ve ever spent $5500 for an entire bike!

I want to see a geometry chart, but it seems like it could be a great do it all 2 wheelset bike, taking the best of the melee and mog. Not being able to do 40c with a 2x feels like it just misses the mark for me .
Will be curious to see when people to get there hands on it what is possible. |

Ignoring the price, this bike looks awesome and would be at or near the top of my list of new bikes I'd want tor ide.
Taking into the account the price, I probably won't be buying one any time soon, but maybe in a few years.

It's up on the site now. I just ordered mine. I love the storage - I've into Rando bikes for a bit with front bags and won't go without storage these days - I hate having stuff in a Jersey or Jacket.

Geo is spot on for me too. Less boring seeing their site. Well it’s too rich for my blood but I’d jump on a deal like I see melee now for 3800…maybe.
