Great posts Mike!
Admit it, you bought it 'cuz it’s purple…
I recognize those locations from the routes we rode and you set up for me in May - such great riding country!
I had a Bike Friday and it was a totally fun bike. I looked at the Soma geo and I'd like this bike - 73 degree HTA and a 48mm trail with a 47mm tire. What's the best modern wide-ish road tire you can get for a 406 wheel?
I think you could bump the gearing with a 10T small cog and maybe a bigger chainring?

I used to have an adorable little Fire Blue Corolla hatchback that looked almost exactly like Baron Blubba (the circumferential fellow who is my avatar). The license plate was BBlubba. It was awesome but impractical for toting around bikes and boats. Yeah, the Crosstrek doesn't accelerate great compared to other cars, but I think all modern cars are such a privilege of the modern era that I don't care. I'm a bike guy, not a car guy.

Some of the weird bikes out there can be surprisingly versatile, too

Riding or racing "The Circus Bike" (Cheltenham-Pedersen), I've enjoyed the same sort of conspicuity, my theme being "beyond retro" or "Danish chopper".

The OP's lucky he wasn't stopped by the cops and asked why he's riding his neighbor's kid's bike...

Absolutely love it, though would use pink bar tape to match my pink helmet to enhance the overall cuteness factor.

Alas if buying another bike, it's a MTB.

I admitted as much in my first or second post! You know me well.

53 is good enough for now, I don't mind having a bike that allows me to coast a little more. I'd go 10T, but it's Shimano 11 speed and I don't think that exists, definitely not without a new freehub, which might be hard to source for this wheelset.

Curious about the yellow, orange, white stripes on top tube?
It's a bit of negative cuteness to my eye, but my wife claims I always have a picky eye and more.
Thanks

It was fun while it lasts

I can appreciate. These are bikes that have given me loads of fun in the past...unfortunately, I have since sold all of them except the Brompton. Looks are deceiving, they actually ride pretty good.

Bianchi Mini Velo

Bike Friday Tikit

Air Friday

Brompton

Also, now you understand why and how I can make any sizes bike "work" for me....like this Ti frame that I just got yesterday from Planet X for 300 bucks, it's labelled as "SMALL"
