My garmin 500 was HORRIBLE for this. Ride under any trees and I lost the signal. Had to have a speed sensor.
The Bolts seem to be much more solid for this.

This is the first time I have broken the 600 mph mark in several years of using the Elemnt.

Just curious whether anyone has successfully used the light control feature on a Varia from a Wahoo device. I tried for the first time on Friday, the "Bike lights" correctly showed current value of "ON" but no matter how many times I pressed the middle button (labeled "OFF"), nothing happened. Reported to Wahoo.

I thought from the video you changed the Varia from the "radar" setting and the "bike lights" setting? I haven't tried to change mine yet..

Just wondering has anyone used the GoPro pairing yet?

I cant seem to pair mine & notice some of the reviewers say it is beta still so not sure it was actually included in update?

I am able to pair to control any music being played on my phone so that works

I also tried & kind of liked the dark mode when I tried it on a very sunny day.
The elevation profiles were quite nice

Ooops sorry I should have looked at Wahoo first...seems gopro control is "coming soon"

figured I'd bring this thread back.. while I haven't quite pulled the trigger on a 1040 (or 1050 for a good deal) yet, I'm still tempted..

so, anyone have any gouge on if Wahoo has any plans to do any updates to the Roam other than software updates? Seems like it's pretty far behind the Garmins at this point on hardware stuff..

also, any updates on folks who've used the Roam vs the 1040? (I have a Bolt V2 now)

Thanks!!

Yes. If you're thinking about buying a Roam, wait. Better yet, send me a pm.

I've seen and heard rumors that there is a Roam V3 (maybe Bolt also) due for release "soon." I had a Roam in my cart at the Wahoo site two weeks ago when its status changed to "no longer in stock," which I took as yet another data point affirming the rumors.

Can't comment on the vs. Garmin questions. I'm tempted to try a Karoo but feel too invested in the Wahoo ecosystem at this point.

what about the Karoo tempts you? I have the Bolt V2, Kicker, and a Garmin Fenix watch, so I don't think I'm too invested in any one system at this point..

It may just be seeking a change, can't point to any specific Karoo functionality that seems far superior to Wahoo, also not convinced that a touchscreen interface is better than the Wahoo's fixed buttons (though those buttons just failed on my Bolt). Neither am I keen to trade Wahoo's customer service, which has been outstanding for me over more than a decade, for that of a SRAM-owned company. Hmm, I guess I'm talking myself out of it.

I think I'm repeating myself now but I too have a Fenix that I've been using for HR because I was tired of buying a new chest strap model every other year. Data is far less accurate, alas.

yes, I think I read about that on another thread recently.. on a macro scale, my accuracy seems fine for my needs from my Fenix 6.. but I have not dived into the micro-data that you seem to have.. I'm not training for anything except the "Best of Fourflys World Champs", so I'm good with it..

BTW- I don't have a real need to change either, but I do tend to look at my Garmin Connect from my watch often.. so I guess I assume I might like some the Edge features.. My Bolt has been good to me so far and when I had an issue with the Wahoo chest strap, they sent me a new one..

I had a Bolt V1, Roam V1 and 1040 Solar. I like the Roam V1 the most out of these by some margin. The one thing I really liked about the 1040 were the on-screen charts for power and heart rate, I found those very useful. I miss those on my Wahoo.

Otherwise I much prefer the Roam for routing visibility, the logic of the elevation screen (zoom in and zoom out is simple, with the 1040 it's quite a lot of faffing to show what you want it to) and how seamlessly the routes can be synced. With the 1040 I'd sometimes be waiting minutes and hoping that a route would sync. It's nowhere near as simple as 'star/create on strava, sync, load, ride'.

With that said, I hope Wahoo comes out with a new Roam v3 or new computer in general. My Roam v1 has a delaminated screen, the backlight doesn't work and the GPS loses signal every now and then. It's time for a retirement.
