SRAM XO 9spd rear derailleur with road shifters?

Just another in a long line of stupid questions:

I have a 9spd SRAM XO double group that I love, and am wondering if the derailleur and cassette work with any road shifters? I am shifting back and forth about building this cheapy bike with flat bar or drop bar, and this may influence the decision. If there are no appropriate shifters and I am determined to go with a drop bar, then the XO stuff will go back into my jewellry box for another day .
