Options for long reach rim brakes

Weird idea, but could you get some of the tiltable brake pad holders to angle down, and then file the pad so that it met the rim squarely? Not the drop holders, but the kind that let you adjust for brake squeal.

Or -- I've used the B-Dop holders in the past and they work fine. It's a cheap solution to try, at least.
