OT: Motorcycles - Let's See Em!
I've been reading through quite a few threads here and it seems like a lot of you guys have a moto parked in the garage next to the bikes.
LET's SEE THEM!! I'm curious as to what everyone is riding! I'll start 2007 Triumph Daytona 675 (Triple!!) On the track. |

I can't figure out where the seatposts you bought from me will fit on that.

That Triumph is a stunner. I've been finding myself more and more drawn to the brand in recent years.
My motorcycle is a POS (I spend a lot more on my bicycles) so I wont' clutter up the thread with a picture of it but I'm excited to see what else everybody has. |

My '03 ZX6 I raced, rode and tracked for a few years.
Just sold it as road riding wasn't interesting anymore, and racing was too expensive along with cycling. I'll miss it dearly this year. |

Poor man's BMW
Suzuki V-Strom... the poor man's BMW (and I mean that in the best possible way).

I've been a long time Honda VFR fan but I wanted something lighter that feels more like my bicycles. This is what I found to fill the bill. 2007 BMW F800S. It was only sold in the US for one year so you don't see many. Is it as reliable as the VFR? Not a chance. Does it sound as good? No way. But is it fun to ride? Oh yeah.

I started on a BMW R1150RT, then moved to an R1200GS-Adv. Lost the Adv in a divorce :cry so now I have a Husky TE250/450 out in the garage. 50-state road legal dirt bike! Woot!
Trick is neither of the engines it came with are running. I've got the smaller engine semi-apart on my workbench right now. PO sez 'no compression.' Hopefully, I won't need a new cylinder/piston. I'll probably need new cams tho. Since its not running, I got it basically for free till I figure out whether I can get it running or not. To go get it, I tried to borrow a buddy's pickup. He backed out when he found out I was headed to TN (from NoVA). So what do you do?! Stick it in the back of a Mercedes! Pulled the forks and wheels off and drove it back. I probably could've fit another one in there, but that woulda been tight. I got an indicated 25-30mpg according to the car's display. Certainly better than a pickup would've gotten! In actuality, he did me a favor backing out of the deal. :nod If I replaced the clutch in it, I could ride Dad's 'Wing. Not my style of bike, but... it'll tow the TE anywhere I need to go! Ride to the ride, switch bikes, ride the ride, ride home! Win! Now that I think about it.... maybe I'll get that clutch replaced before bicycle racing season really starts up. Ride to the races, race the race, ride home. Win s'more! Hey Gone: you surf ADVRider at all? M Last edited by Gummee; 02-29-2012 at 10:25 AM. |

1976 Honda CB 400F
I tracked down a '76 CB 400F Super Sport several years ago, though sold it recently following a partial restoration to make room for (more) bikes and a newborn.
Nowadays I keep an eye out for something more 'modern', which for me would ideally be a first generation '96 Triumph Speed Triple in Diablo Black....! -shortribs NYC |

Not a pic of mine, but mine's identical. '71 Yamaha Mini Enduro. I've had various others, but got rid of 'em all years ago. Perhaps it's silly, but I feel infinitely safer riding a bike in LA than a motorcycle.
