Suggestions for good Allroad bike from boutique brands
Hi all,
Looking to build up an all road bike that can fit 35mm tires. Some brands that offer an all road bike that I have found is: 1. Allied Echo 2. Breadwinner 3. Horse 4. Standert Anyone know of any others? |

Breadwinner is a good option, and they are easy to work with.

If I were buying a new all-road bike and I wanted a "boutique" brand my first stop would be Pursuit Cycles.
Second stop would probably be Firefly. Or Hampsten. |

+1 to Desalvo
I'd also consider Rock Lobster. Both great experienced builders. Channeling Old Spud, can also take a look a Habenero Cycles. |

Not really “boutique” but the new Ritchey Montebello looks pretty classy.

There were a flurry of them introduced earlier this year.
Parlee Fifty One Enve Honestly, I would just get a Crux. |

My first choice would be a Ritchey, Outback, Swiss Cross or Montebello-- choose your flavor, all clear 35mm or more.

well, I'd say give Fairlight from the UK a look then..
I'm also looking at "Allroad" bikes at this point as well as my feeling is a bike that can fit a 40mm tire will do most of what I would want as it pertains to off-pavement stuff.. for me, I'm looking at the Argon 18 Krypton, the new Giant Defy, new Domane, etc.. what I've found is when you get to looking at AllRoad bikes, you need to determine what you are looking for as far as handling as there seems to be a bit of fine line between AllRoad that is more like the prior endurance bikes (steeper HT) and the "fast" gravel bikes (slacker HT, but steeper than a bikepacking rig).. I would think there is probably a handful of gravel race bikes that might fit your parameters as well?

Horse cycles is another semi-custom and I've lusted after their frames since seeing one at a show. Second Fairlight, they are VERY nice bikes and have a vast array of sizing that allows for a semi-custom size, and as a bonus could come in quite a bit below 3K. |

I’ve had two Standert road frames and like them a lot. Whatever flavor of their offerings fits your bill would be cool. Check though as some are made in Italy and some in Taiwan.
Stinner is teasing a MUSA affordable offering right now. I’m following it but probably not in the market. |

I think the new Parlee Ouray looks pretty interesting if you are not put off by the very compact geometry (which has the benefit of giving back-friendly stack and reach figures with good standover). I have two Parlees, and I don't know their secret sauce but they both ride very, very well even with a 31.6 mm seatpost.
https://parleecycles.com/products/ouray Edit: just realized the frameset price ($5,290) is way more than what you stated as your budget, so feel free to ignore this suggestion Last edited by fa63; 11-03-2024 at 08:08 PM. |
