Oops. Sorry and thanks.
I'm in San Francisco near Golden Gate Park and my bike was stolen from my garage. Thief rilled two holes in the door and undid the manual latch. I'd recently undid the zip tie to replace it with something else. I'm sure the bike is in Mexico with Constru-Bikes by now |

San Francisco is ground zero for garage break-in/bike thefts. I know around a half-dozen people who have been victimized. Really sorry you went through this. I’d advise locks on the bike while in the garage.

I’ve got one on my garage door. Very easy to install |

So sorry to hear about this. Thanks for the OP info about the garage lock--never seen it before.

That is a bold thief. I was not aware of the referenced garage door lock. That looks perfect.
So sorry you lost a very nice bike from such an apparently secure place. Mike |

Terrible, thieves suck so much.
How do you think this came about? Do you think you were watched going and coming home? |

What a bummer, that sux. Been there a few times myself, got lucky once and got it back. IDK about the SF police but in small town America they do look into these things. Might be worth reporting it? Especially since it's breaking into your home. IDK if it will make it on the East Coast but if I see it...

How would the thief know to put this effort into getting into your garage? Do they put the same effort into all locked garages? I don't mean to shame the victim OP here - just trying to understand how strong and pervasive this break and enter ethos is. |

So sorry about this. All the locks won’t keep the determined thrives out. Best to get good insurance. Maybe a Doberman in the garage at night.
Is there a bicycle specific insurance policy? Bikes are more expensive than some motorcycles these days. |
