Moots CRD

So I noticed that Moots launched a new bike today, the Moots CRD. I like this a lot. The geometry is better in my books than the RCS, the stack and reach are more in-line with current generation road bike offerings and I really like the CK Aeroset. The integrated brake lines look great, and for all the downsides that come with them I think it's the future.

Very cool bike. The price makes me want to cry, even by Moots standards.

Funny, I can't stand the Chris King headset on a bike like that. It's not an aero bike, what's the point? Because they can? Not that I'm their customer..

Not sure where you all are on the size spectrum, but in the smaller sizes, I've never seen such a short reach with that kinda stack (with external headsets nonetheless). My gravel bike with a 30mm fork has less stack.

Really, you think it's tall?

Sharp dressed bike.

Not a fan of the stem and its idiosyncrasies, but damn, that is a gorgeous bike. Its hard to justify that price in any way though. I just bought a $7k SUV, so my means are very different than their target market!

Unless I'm missing something that HT doesn't look tall/weird at all.

It's 15mm shorter than the one on my 57.5cm LOOK 585.

I wouldn't be able to ride this even if I were interested.

Great bike, crap "integration"

Interesting that they finally decided to go with T47. Wonder if this will be a running change on their other offerings.

My guess is that they couldn't run all the necessary cabling through the BSA? Today Moots only runs its 'integrated' rear brake hose through the down tube, emerging before it gets to the BB.

To everyone saying the HT looks tall... keep in mind that the integrated Enve bar/stem is probably a -12° with no options for a lesser angle or flipping the stem up. So HT's need to be generous. For a 56 the HT is 15 cm so actually not as long as I'd personally want given being locked into a -12° stem.

That might be tempered by the external headset cup somewhat.

I'm sure it's a nice bike, but I dont see anything new or exciting there. Visually it looks like a standard Ti bike from a decade ago, not that that's a bad thing.

BB/CS junction looks like it skipped leg day.

It's a Moots - I trust it rides really nice, but that integrated stem needs to die. At least there are no dropped stays...

+1. Looks out of place. For that matter, I wish Moots would go back to the painted forks to match the blasted finish of the frame, albeit without all the branding. Unpainted carbon forks look like a cheap afterthought on any bike (including the one I have). Why go for all that fancy anodizing but settle for a crappy looking matte black fork?

Funny…first thing I noticed was that it seemed to have less TT slope than usual for a Moots. Moots is usually an egregious offender on this count, which is why I’d never own one.

But, yeah, that stem. Sheesh.
