yesterday was the worse of it. got myette and zank to the airport just in time to escape the carnage. lots of traffic snarls and folks without power, but things will probably be back to normal by tomorrow.

Not as bad here as they made it sound like, at least where I am. There were some serious winds on the coast and a rumor that I-5 was closed up nearer Seattle yesterday.
I rode to work yesterday as well as a 20 miler this morning at 5:00am. Temp this morning was near 60. I thought I dressed light and was way overdressed. Saturday it was snowing. This is a wierd place, Pineapple Express and all. |

Flooding, high winds, downed trees, mudslides, record-setting rainfall, state of emergency - pretty typical week, really.

The Dry Side hasn't exactly been dry but the Wonder Poodle and I hunkered in and hoped the roof stayed on. Very short power outtage yesterday morning and then a full size ponderosa across the road as I was driving to class at 5:30 am. Sunday it snowed very heavily all day long - horizontally - but warm enough that nothing stuck.
Glorious blue sky and puffy clouds today.

It is pretty wet. Some unfornunate home owners had water 3-5 feet deep for the first time. I -5 I heard had 5-8 feet of water over the road way and will be closed for a while so if one wants to go to Portland via Seattle I-5 - you must go I -90 east then south thru Yakima onto I-84 . this route normally is about 180 miles it is now 475 miles. some golf courses have waterfalls coming off the green and down the fairway - I would find it hard to make my golf ball stick close to the flag in those conditions. Many cars are trashed with water over the hood. Lot of slides taking a few cars with them. Many people are still waiting to be rescued this morning by Chopper or Nat'l Guard ( I wonder where they came from - thought everyone was in Iraq) Schools inthe southern western part of the state are closed since very few roads are passable. But the good news is it is going to be getting less rain as the week progresses. I may be able to get out on the Serotta and or golf tomorrow.
Snowboard resorts maybe getting goood snow I hope come this weekend. Most of it washed away with the pinapple express warm weather. BTW - the Salmon get very confused this time of year -- I am sure a GPS would be helpful!
