Campagnolo Gran Fondo San Diego- Postponed

Campagnolo Gran Fondo San Diego
2 hrs ·
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING THE 2020 RIDE - PLEASE READ
Hello GranFondo San Diego Riders,

Race directors have determined that, out of an abundance of caution, the 2020 GranFondo San Diego Ride will be postponed to a later date. The current health and safety conditions surrounding the Coronavirus are still unknown at this time. This is the best direction possible keeping the health and safety of our staff and athletes a top priority.

We are working with the various governments to determine the best date in which to re-schedule the event. We will provide more information as soon as it is known.

We know these are challenging times and appreciate all your support and understanding.

Sincerely,

The GranFondo Team

Please note: We love what we do and what we do is put on events. After months and months of planning, coordinating and making our very best effort to create a race experience that we consider the best in California the last thing we ever want to do is postpone or cancel a race. We also understand that athletes devote a significant amount of their time, money and effort preparing for a race. So, if we need to make the difficult decision to postpone or cancel a race it’s a great disappointment for us and we know it’s a great disappointment to you. Unfortunately, though, that is the risk we share. You may feel you are entitled to a full refund if we postpone or cancel a race, but this is not feasible given the costs incurred in the months leading up to race day.

unfortunately, i think a lot of end users are going to have to eat some fees. i guess in the grand scheme of things that's OK, given the economic impact to the world as a whole, some cost sharing is alright.

all these events being postponed, well - that doesnt leave a lot of free weekends in the calendar to postpone to.

by the way, what was the date for this one?

the underlying questions is when will it be OK to carry on. we just dont know yet how long life as usual will be on hold i suppose.

It was April 5. One potential benefit to a delay is a better chance that there won't be rain.

It'd be easier to just have an events canceled due to Coronavirus thread.

Or, to conserve storage space, an "events not cancelled due to Coronavirus" thread.

So far, the NJ Gentleperson’s Ride hasn't been canceled.

Gran Fondo NY cancelled entirely this year:

Quote:
The 10th GFNY World Championship NYC was postponed to May 16, 2021. Existing registrations remain active.

Riders who are registered for the race received further detailed information from gfny.cc by email. Unfortunately there are no refunds, transfers to another person or another event of GFNY entries.

Anyone who purchased Refund Protect can make a claim here if attending on the new date May 16, 2021 is not possible: https://refunds.refundprotect.co/

Our hearts go out to everyone effected by this situation.

Your GFNY Team
