Carbon handlebar, 38cm width, short reach/drop, with flat tops
Still working on specifying my sister's bike. Please recommend bars that come in 38mm width, short reach (say 70mm or less?) and have flattish tops instead of round.

I was going to recommend the new xplr carbon bar but see it only goes to 40cm. Seems many brands are opting out of 38 now. I love the xplr carbon bar. I didn’t think they could improve upon the aluminum model but they did!

What would you say is the improvement over aluminum? I also love these bars in aluminum and have them on several bikes. I have a feeling you are about to cost me to spend money!

I have the XPLR bar in alloy on my Bingham and I have to say it's my fave bar of all time. I don't see the value proposition for me to have carbon bars on my bikes, except for the Supersix that I weight-weenied out thanks to you and your magnesium Pinarello thread

I have the XPLR and the spank wing 12 both in aluminum and feel like spank has all the good of the XPLR but better. Just went with it on my road bike despite its weight and no regrets. My hand felt much better.
Not for you sister (too wide) but just in general. |

OneByEsu has three 38cm carbon models with flat'ish tops, away from the clamp area. All sub70mm.
One flared model is 60/105mm. Last edited by owly; Yesterday at 06:29 PM. Reason: txt |

Might check out the older FSA carbon bars - (maybe k wing) probably about 125 drop, flat tops and shortish reach.

I got some 38 cm FSA bars but they measure the same as my 40 cm ones, maybe 1/2 cm narrower.
I got the WORX bars and I love them. Super narrow. However they're on my track bike so no shifters/levers and I haven't been climbing out of the saddle on the hoods. I'm going to order the 36cm and 34 cm aluminum drop bars from Don't Stop Pedaling. The only thing is the shipping ($58) is more than the bars ($49), so I've been trying to think of other things I want to get before I do the order. My goal is to have a max 37 cm bar on my road bike as a wide bar, maybe a 34 cm (which measures 35 cm outside to outside, which is the rule for a road bike). The 36cm would be the backup "wide" bar. Road bikes: 36 and 34 Track bike: 33 Alternative road bike set ups: 38 and 36, if the 34 is too narrow when climbing out of the saddle on the hoods. |

The most noticeable is the shelf near the transition to the hood. It feels like a perfect fit for the palm and improves the comfort. The tops are shaped a bit more for an even more natural fit when cruising up top.

Came here to say this, my favorite bar.
I use the alloy SL70 in 38. |
