Sad news. He was a terrific actor. I know little about the rest of his life, which in a way, is also a big compliment.

Yes, a life well lived and that voice. RIP.
Just perused his filmography, what a prolific actor. I had no idea he was in Dr. Strangelove. |

What a voice and presence! I could listen to him reading the Yellow Pages: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4igkM5UqIEs.

You mentioned his voice. In Dr. Strangelove, a young guy pops his head through a hatch in the cockpit floor and starts talking in Darth Vader's voice. It didn't really dawn on me that it was James Earl Jones until I had seen the movie multiple times.

Of my generation, but something new taken in with each viewing. He was a great voice and a very good actor. He set a high bar. |

His Big Bang Theory cameo (with Carrie Fisher!) was comedic gold. He deftly poked fun at himself, displaying a sense of humor most didn't know he possessed. RIP to one of the greats of the big screen.
