Any News On Stages Cycling?
The last I read was that the Stages Cycling execs bolted to Giant and Giant made a $20M bid for the company. Any chance that the company is coming back under new ownership?
We're coming up to indoor cycling season and while my SB20 smart trainer has been flawless, it would be reassuring to know that there are service options available if needed. Has anyone been left hung out to dry since Stages Cycling ceased operation? |

Based on the service they had when they were in business I doubt you'd notice much difference now.

I've also seen that they were sending out replacement individual crank arms if the power meter calibration offset was out of spec. When I bought my SB20 at a fantastic sale price two winters ago, one of the things that convinced me to drop that cash was that Stages had thousands of commercial trainers in fitness centers around the country. I wrongly figured that alone would help keep them solvent through the tough times. |

From BRAIN:
Giant making bid to buy Stages Cycling from bankruptcy for $20 million https://www.bicycleretailer.com/indu...ing-bankruptcy Giant puts in a stalking horse bid of $20M for the patents and trademarks. A lot of engineers/business people have already joined Giant. |

Someone is still paying the server bills, as I was able to login with my account and download the latest firmware last week.

Seems like complicated bankruptcy with 4 llc's under one overall management structure in different states. It even looks like the Stages Cycling assets in other countries are not part of this bankruptcy. Looks like Giant basically wants the IP. But no word on additional bids or status after the early August deadlines. The article notes that continued payments keeping the training website online was approved. I'm thinking that's how Ricerocket was able to download the latest firmware (even if the latest firmware is likely dated before the April bankruptcy filing)? |

Very good news for those that own Stages products. I have no idea about the behind the scenes maneuvering over the last several months but it seems like Giant has plans to move the brand forward. Good news all around.
Thanks for the info! |

Curious what that's going to mean for their OEM deals; will Giant stop speccing bikes w/ SRAM since they're now a competitor (seems unlikely?). Curious to hear from the folks who know more about how this stuff works...

Giant already equips its own brand 'Power Halo' on SRAM-equipped bikes at the Force and Rival level so I wouldn't expect this deal to change much.
