should I rattle can this Impero?

I wound up having to buy a few classic Imperos on ebay in order to piece one together that worked acceptably and would fit my smallish frame. The barrel of this one was once white, but has faded to a yellowish hue. You can see what color it was by the handle which is not fully compressed on my bike, but probably was the majority of it's life and the sun has yellowed the rest of the barrel.

I was thinking of pulling it back apart and painting it a color, maybe just black; or just leave it as-is with the patina....

Thoughts?

Um, the correct positioning for a Silca frame pump is between the rear skewer and the seat lug. It's in the rules, FFS. LOL

If the frame had matching patina I might keep it as-is. Rattle can away

He always reminds me of a conversation that he had with some old, well known cycling person (he likes to drop names), who told him that this (along the seat stay) is the "correct" way to mount a pump. I cringe inwardly.

What's funny is that on my 1993 Pinarello, there IS a pump peg on the head tube, but I have always put the pump between the rear skewer and seat lug, ever since I started racing back in 1977. While the Velominati rules are to be tongue-in-cheek, that rule is based on what people did. I still do it when I take the Pinny out.

That fabulous frame deserves a nice matchy-matchy silver & black pump, full stop.

This is a really great idea! If you want to try it, I probably have the right size tubing in black I'd be happy to send you gratis.

That certainly is an improvement but I think the white handle pulls too much attention. If that bike was mine, I'd be painting it black before the sun set. The eyes should not be attracted to the pump's handle.

Find some vinyl end caps (they come in various sizes to go over exposed screw ends) and put them on the pump head prongs. The original Campy blue ones have turned to dust by now.
